Now that I have two daughters, celebrating Women’s History Month is more important than ever. We’re kicking things off by reading “She Persisted” chapter books from @PenguinKids. 💙📚

Inspired by the #1 New York Times bestselling picture book She Persisted by Chelsea Clinton and Alexandra Boiger comes a chapter book series about women who rose up against the odds! The first three books in the series highlight the powerful stories of Sally Ride, Claudette Colvin and Harriet Tubman. These women broke barriers by being the first American women in space, fighting for equality, and finding freedom.

Even today, I’m personally inspired on a daily basis by the courage women find to stand up, speak up, and show up! It wasn’t always accepted, and we owe thanks to these female role models of the past who paved the way. We are still persisting as women and I will continue to teach my daughters that there is always more room at the top for them!

These three stories are available now and more in the series are still to come. Read the story of Harriet Tubman by @andreapinkney1, Claudette Colvin by @lclineransome, and Sally Ride by @atiaabawi. Join the #Persisterhood!

Living in New York City, I can proudly say my fami Living in New York City, I can proudly say my family is excellent at handwashing! #ad We’re exposed to more germs and bacteria on a daily basis than most people due to small spaces, public transportation, and any number of things that come with living in a metropolitan area. Our first stop when entering our home after taking shoes off is …HANDWASHING. It’s my job to make sure the bathroom is always stocked with soap and my kids know it’s their job to wash their hands immediately. Unfortunately, according to the annual Healthy Handwashing Survey from an industry leader in advanced commercial washrooms @Bradley_Corporation, Americans are starting to ease up on handwashing. With so many people experiencing “pandemic fatigue," there’s been a decline in one of the safest and most effective ways to reduce the transmission of viruses and bacteria, including the virus that causes Covid-19. In April 2020, 78% of Americans were washing their hands six or more times a day. That's now dropped to 57% when the most recent survey was conducted in January. In order to return to a more normal way of life, it’s more important than ever to maintain high levels of personal hygiene. The @cdcgov recommends spending at least 20 seconds to lather up, scrub and rinse. The Healthy Handwashing Survey also found Americans are taking shortcuts like just rinsing with water and not using soap which is concerning because using only water doesn’t remove germs. We must remember, we are all in this together and encourage one another to follow the guidelines to keep us all safe and healthy. Let’s keep up the social distancing, elbow bumping, air hugging and handwashing! #healthyhandwashing #cleanhands #handwashingstats #washyourhands #handwashing #covid19 #fluprevention
Have you had a virtual doctor’s appointment yet? Have you had a virtual doctor’s appointment yet? I had my first one recently with Dr. Janet Stoess-Allen @parkaveortho to check the status of my #invisalign 🙌😁. I’m happy to report I’m nearing the end of my journey and it’s been the easiest thing ever. With a face mask covering up my clear aligners most of the time (with the exception of a quick pic), it’s really been a breeze! If you’re on the fence or wondering about the process in general, Park Avenue Orthodontics can answer all your questions and show you what your smile can look like after an #invisalignjourney 🙌😁. #parkaveortho #uppereastside #bestorthodontist #uesorthodontist @invisalign
Last year .... it all seems so surreal now, but st Last year .... it all seems so surreal now, but still one of the best moments in my #NYC life. 🖤 Attending the @badgleymischka #nyfw show was a dream come true. Having this outfit delivered to my door 15 hrs before showtime was next level and I will never forget it! 🙏🏻 Seated amongst editors of the top magazines in the world, celebs, socialites & ME! Who could have ever known what would be next with the virus, countless natural disasters, loss, and most recently my hometown of TX being hit hard with winter storms. It helps me to think of fun things in the past but more importantly look to the future and what great things lie ahead on the road to recovery! 🖤 We got this! 🙏🏻
It’s never too early to start saving for your ch It’s never too early to start saving for your child’s higher education. #ad We started shortly after my son was born with a gift from my grandfather and I’m happy to say that now all 3 of my kids have an NY’s 529 College Saving Program Direct Plan. We have no idea what their future will hold but we still want to be prepared with a 529 college savings account. The NY 529 plan has so many benefits and is easy to set up online with no minimum amount. Thousands of universities and technical schools are eligible to use your savings. Also, my favorite benefit is friends and family members can easily make gift contributions. Thinking forward is the best gift anyone can give our child. #NY529 #collegesavingsplan
New York City recently opened limited capacity ind New York City recently opened limited capacity indoor dining yet again.🙌🍽 As enjoyable as bagel deliveries have been... I’ve really been missing a true NYC brunch and we decided to visit our favorite spot, @bubbys. We lucked out with a table right before the crowds started and after temperature checks, contact tracing check in, we felt good socially distanced and by the open door. The kids kept their coats on but it was a small price to pay for an amazing morning! When we left Harlow said: “Wow, that was a great breakfast guys!” Have you been dining inside or still waiting it out?🥞🥓🥯🍳🍩☕️ #nyc #nycbrunch #nycbrunchspots #bubbys
Happy Valentine’s to the man who makes the speci Happy Valentine’s to the man who makes the special days even more SPECIAL✨🥂❣️✨. Of all the years, this would have been the perfect one to stay home and chill but last night the heart shape pizza was ordered for the kids and we went out! Covering every detail of the evening we started the night at @frauncestavern ... a place I’ve never been (for some strange reason) and recently said I wanted to go. After, we stopped in next door to the most perfect cozy and romantic spot with live jazz music and discovered “gin” is my new choice cocktail! Thank you @dadarocks for doing all the things and always going out of the way to make me feel special & loved ...even during a pandemic! I love you ! 💋🥂❣️
Happy Lunar New Year!✨🧧✨This year was a lit Happy Lunar New Year!✨🧧✨This year was a little different between the outdoor restaurants and no street closures (Covid restrictions) which made celebrating a little challenging, but don’t think we didn’t try. 🎉Being in #Chinatown during the new year is by far one of the most vibrant experiences of the year and we wouldn’t miss it! If you follow the zodiac animals this is #yearoftheox ✨
“The Ox is the second of all zodiac animals. According to one myth, the Jade Emperor said the order would be decided by the order in which they arrived to his party. The Ox was about to be the first to arrive, but Rat tricked Ox into giving him a ride. Then, just as they arrived, Rat jumped down and landed ahead of Ox. Thus, Ox became the second animal.” ✨📸 @prestonkra #chinesenewyear #happychinesenewyear #chinesenewyear2021
❄️🤍💙WINTER BLUES💙🤍❄️... it’s ❄️🤍💙WINTER BLUES💙🤍❄️... it’s that time of the year again we’re teased with signs of warmer weather but here in the northeast it’s still very much winter. I’m taking this time enjoy the season and celebrate all layers, cute coats, cozy vibes, & any winter activities we haven’t done yet. What’s your winter status? Over it or loving it while it lasts? ❄️💙🤍 #winter #winterblues #nyc #soho #nyclifestyle #sohonyc
