Celebrating the Chinese New Year with Smarter Toddler

This month at Smarter Toddler has been spent learning about China. The children have been so busy creating projects and learning about the special customs and traditions of this great country. The month has ended with a celebration of the Chinese New Year. Once again, we are so happy to attend such a thoughtful school with an emphasis on all cultures and an opportunity to celebrate diversity.

The Smarter Toddler Financial District location has been transformed once again. This time red, yellow and gold Chinese decorations can be found everywhere. Each class room is decorated and Chinese umbrellas and lanterns are everywhere. The children’s fabulous artwork line the hallways and each morning I let Harper tell me about  one of her projects. The 3D Dragon Puppet’s that are seen below were made from recycled materials and even sprinkled with glitter (which I know Harper loved!) There is also a description on the wall which gave me even more information about the special art project.

Kuddos to her wonderful teachers Jasmine and Sheila for keeping Harlow completely clean during this messy & fun project. I would have completely understood otherwise! Harlow and her classmates were also given lucky red envelopes to open. So fun!

The Children at Smarter Toddler created this amazing dragon. They have learned about the dragon dance and celebrated this past Friday with a parade.

There are a lot of Chinese sayings that will determine whether or not your upcoming year will be lucky… but I think it’s certain our year will “always” be lucky as long as we have these amazing learning experiences from Smarter Toddler.

Happy Chinese New Year,

XOXO,

Suzanne
