Move, Learn, and Grow with Broadway Dance Center Children & Teens

Broadway Dance Center has recently opened up a new studio in NYC for Children and Teens! This new studio is aimed at providing young movers the premier training to achieve their full potential as artists. In case you aren’t familiar with the history of BDC, Bette Middler, Brooke Shields, Britney Spears, Madonna, and *NSYNC are among the performers that have either taken a class or rehearsed at the school in the past.  As New York City’s premier adult drop-in dance studio, BDC expanded the training opportunities to youth in 1998. The newest location for children and teens is located near the famous Lincoln Center on the Upper West Side.

My oldest daughter Harper is now in her 2nd year of dance. She looks forward to her weekly ballet and tap combo class and I look forward to our special time together. Each week we hop on the subway and travel uptown to the new BDC location at 37 W 65th St.

The new state-of-the-art studio is stunning. Located on the 3rd floor, the space is flooded with natural light and is sparkling new. The spacious studio is complete with a comfortable waiting area, tables for after school studies, and multiple individual changing areas. There is also a fun area for little siblings to wait complete with bean bag chairs and little furniture.

Harper is greeted weekly by her lovely dance instructor and assistant. They are so kind and gentle which is important with the little ones. They have a beautiful space to dance in and parents can even peak in the little window at any time to see what’s going on. However, there is a also a large viewing monitor in the waiting area so parents and care givers can watch without having to sneak a peek through the window.

Each child gets plenty of one on one instruction  during the class which is important at an early age. Dancers need to learn the proper technique which will carry them to the next level. I was concerned at other dance studios in the past that the girls were just running around having fun and not truly learning the correct positions. It’s important to me that Harper has an excellent dance foundation which I strongly feel she is getting at Broadway Dance Center.

Harper always comes out of her class with such enthusiasm and I can tell what an incredible time she had. Last week she even showed me how she learned to point her toe while lifting her leg. I have to admit I was impressed! I love that she is both comfortable in class and at the same time being challenged to learn new things and appreciate dance.

BDC offers drop-in classes for ages 6 months to 3 years. Additionally a 16-week fall and spring semester class is offered as well as a 32-week program with a showcase to follow at the end of the season! Classes include Creative Movement, Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Musical Theater Dance, Hip-Hop, Lyrical, Contemporary, Acro, Boys’ Technique, boys’ Hip-Hop, World Dance, and more! At the West 65th st location prenatal yoga and barre classes are also offered.

I’m so happy to have partnered up with Broadway Dance Center Children & Teens. I look forward to Harper’s continuing dance journey each and every week!
