Snacking & Crafting with Wonderful Halos

This past weekend my daughter and I attended the sweetest event at The Children’s Museum of the Arts in lower Manhattan. Momtrends teamed up with Wonderful Halos to host a Spring Crafting and Snacking event for families inside this inviting museum space. Although it was a blustery winter day outside, we all stayed warm and cozy inside as our little ones crafted some adorable projects with some help from the wonderful staff at CMA.

As my daughter worked on her “multiple’ projects, I sampled some delicious snacks using Wonderful Halos mandarins as a key ingredient. I have always been a fan of these tiny little palm sized mandarins and I was super impressed as I saw first hand how many different ways they can be used.

Wonderful Halos are California-grown and are always seedless, sweet and easy to peel. My daughters love to snack on these little mandarins and as a parent, I feel much better about letting them eat something healthy. My one year old can’t quite chew the entire bite, but she gives it her best by trying to get the juice out. The 3 pound bags are so easy to buy at the supermarket and put in a school lunch or the diaper bag as a snack.

The Wonderful Halos Mandarin Spring Salad was admittedly my favorite! The combination of the marinated shrimp combined with mandarins, feta cheese and sliced almonds was excellent!

I also sampled the Island Breeze Smoothie which was made with coconut milk, pineapple pieces, banana, macadamia nuts and Wonderful Halos mandarins. It was so refreshing and I will definitely be making this at home for my family! The Spiced Mandarin Cider was also delicious. I can’t wait to try this at home as well.

I would say the most popular snack at the event was the chocolate dipped Wonderful Halo with a drop of sea salt. Both parents and kids could not get enough of these!  The cookies were also popular and the healthy toppings certainly didn’t turn away any takers.

I’m already a huge chips and salsa type of girl, so adding some brightly colored mandarin oranges to the mix will definitely mix things up abit at my next party.

After all the fun crafting and snacking @Fabgabblog and I decided to check out The Children’s Museum of Art. This has always been a favorite children’s museum for my family. The kids are really encouraged to explore the unique hands on activities. Of course the art room was the highlight for my daughter and  my newly orange spattered black boots will be a fond memory of the fun we had on this fun filled day.
