Things are Spooktactular at Smarter Toddler

The month of October has been “thrilling” at Smarter Toddler Financial District! The girls have been learning about all things Fall. I have enjoyed seeing all of their art projects and seeing the joy in their face each day at drop off and pick up. Harper cannot hide her excitement each morning as the decorations have been getting spookier and spookier!

My little one who is in the Young Toddler class has been focusing on foods that we see and eat during the Fall. They have also been creating handprint pumpkins and apples and reading stories relating to pumpkins. I love seeing her artwork on the wall and can’t wait to see more. The classroom also has family photos of all the students to comfort the little ones while they are in class.

Apples have been an exciting study for the little ones. They were introduced to three different colored apples and investigated how apples smell, feel, and even had a taste test! Apparently green was the winner!

Fall is such a nice time of the year and all students are still getting to take a daily walk outside while the weather permits!

In the older toddler class my other daughter Harper has been observing and investigating leaves. She even created her own leaf book which she was so proud to show me! The children have been having discussions on the change in color of the leaves and also about different parts of a tree. Harper learned a new poem “Autumn Leaves are Falling” and she also drew a picture to go with it.

Each morning for circle time the older children discuss the day of the week and start their day with a fun story read by the teacher. The kids really love this routine and I love how the teachers are incorporating so many Fall stories and conversations.

Toward the end of October as we get closer to Halloween the teachers have been creating mini pumpkin patches in the classrooms. The children have been learning about pumpkins through stories and exploration. Music is always incorporated at Smarter Toddler and they “pat”ed on the drums to create new sounds!

We are super excited for all the Halloween extravaganza on Monday, October 31st. There will be a costume parade, monster mash, and trick or treating!
